Operation TEFL

I just finished my TEFL course here in Barcelona and I must say
it was not a disappointment. To be honest, I am at a point of
transition in my life, coming from a primarily military background
and looking to start anew as a civilian. Having no formal
education, I was a bit worried about finding work, especially in
France, when a friend suggested teaching English. I thought
about going straight into the field without taking this course, but
would have felt a bit guilty teaching without really knowing what I
am doing (other than the ability to speak English). I have to
say now, that the class was everything that I could have hoped for,
not only did I learn things about my own language that I was
unaware of, but I feel confident as a teacher. I now have an
idea of what to expect and how to go about running a proper, well
structured lesson. I even found that I may truly enjoy
teaching. So for something that I just wanted to do to get me
on my feet coming out of the service, I may have found something
that I actually enjoy doing for some time to come. Also, this
is definitely work that I can do at my own pace, so running a
business and going to school at the same time is totally within
reason. Overall, very glad I did the course, and happy to
have the class that I did. Great classmates, AWESOME
teachers, and Barcelona is a fun city to explore. Thank you
Lisa, Jane, Jamie, Suzanne, and Micheal. Hope to see all of
you again, and also to all of my classmates, if you ever find
yourself in Marseille, you will have a friend waiting for
you. Biz a tous.
